Back to basics it is...

Our first day back to Lewis, after a long break (we had to take time off to run a week-long camp for Abernethy Elementary~one of two year-round schools in the district) and the students were back with a vengence! We decided to revisit the fact that two students recieved their orange sashes prior to the break (ohhh, motivation) and formally reviewed the list of requirements Wally wrote up with what had to be the stinkiest perma-marker known to mankind, on a giant orange cardstock background. Vigorous drilling revealed that most all students were able to recall specific techniques. Now all one needs to attain beyond the physical [they were informed], is the mental capacity to attain and hold "focus." By the time all is said and done, those young elementary students will have developed the ability to pay attention and stick with a challenge unlike most adults around them!
