Kobak celebrates in the end zone during the "Roller Bowl" An excessive celebration penalty flag was thrown on this play.

Although the Jets and Giants both failed in their playoff bids, Jim Kobak's spirited 30 point performance kept New York in the post-season picture. Kobak's inspired play calling allowed him to control the clock during 3 commanding drives through the red zone. "I was able to call an audible and convert on 3rd and long," said Kobak, "...the secondary was tough, but we ran the deep fade exceptionally well." Kobak earned a 4 point victory over pre-game favorite, Chris Rose, "with the home field, I really expected to do better. As usual, a few costly turnovers affected the outcome of this game." Chris added, "I am proud of the performance, we kept it close despite injury and at least we covered the spread!" Tom Moffet started with an impressive first quarter drive, scoring a touchdown with the 2 point conversion. But, after that first effort, he could not convert on long yardage plays, burned up all of his time outs, and had to punt. The crowd was inspired by "walk-on" Mike White. Despite his unusual play calling, White was able to score a few points, "We did well off the line, and tore up the secondary, but my recievers got caught out in the flat and we couldn't convert on 3rd down." White was also hampered when Chris Rose threw the red coach's challenge flag, "...can you believe the call?, the officials missed the fact that he was not using roller skis."
