Jim "Harvester of Sorrow" Kobak celebrates victory at the Gauntlet Stadium finish line with his patented Zakk Wylde air-guitar routine!

New Year's Day 07- Warm temps, rain and heavy slush could not stop the annual frenzy of THE GAUNTLET from taking place. With a record crowd on hand to watch the start, the Peru Nordic Masters team of Jim Kobak and Chris Rose rocketed to yet another Gauntlet victory. Rose led the procession by barely whisking past Tom Moffet at the first exchange to tag Kobak. Kobak opened up a gap before ever warming temperatures started to slow the field. "The grey stuff was fast at first, and then I sunk my skis into the gravel underneath..." said an excited Kobak, "...it compromised my glide a little, but I got great purchase for the kick phase." Kobak and Rose barely held off the exciting Multi-National Unified Team of Sara Bi's Moffet and Peru's Bob Maswick. This was especially impressive because Kobak and Rose withstood the "celebrity guest lap" appearance of Ed "Distributor of Pain" Lis.
