The endless pursuit of skiable snow.

Dec. 3.  Armed with a car full of skis, the Peru Nordic Masters loaded up the Honda Civic and headed out to search for skiable snow.  The previous day's rain and wind turned into a moderate snow in Lake Placid and whetted the appetitte of the World's Most Notorious Nordic Ski Team.  Alas, nothing but disappointment was found.  The Whiteface Highway was not skiable from the Toll House.  It seemed like quite a hike to a skiable stretch of road.  The Whiteface Alpine Center was busy making snow up high, but had not opened for business.  The LP golfcourses had a dusting, but again, no skiing to speak of.  The jumps were making snow at the base of the big hills; again, no skiing.  The PNMSP settled for a trail run loop from South Meadow to Marcy Dam to ADK Loj and back.  There is a dusting of snow in the woods.  Disappointing, yes, but at least it is beginning to look alot like winter.
