Harvesting Sorrow...

The RollerVasa tradition lives on...  The RollerVasa, "The World's Most Notorious Rollerski Race," has once again lived up to its reputation.  Recreating the infamous journey of weary skiers to the MitcHELLbeiner Skistadion bonfire, this race challenges participants to ski 30 km in classic technique while carrying 72 oz of frosty ice-brewed cold beverage.  Annually, participants deal with this burden in varied ways.  Chris Rose, the race winner, saved weight by placing the cans in his tights.  "It kept the weight off my back, and it really impressed the chicks... I mean, it looks like I have an armadillo in my trousers."  Silver medalist, Jim Kobak, went with the traditional fanny pack, but purchased Coors Light in the extra light  carbon-fiber cans.  "Sure, it was $800.00 for the six-pack, but the 0.0034 grams of weight I saved really added up over 30 km."
