Conquest of the Americas!! We Salute You ![]() Rose shows those "savages" a thing or two about classic technique Columbus Day Weekend- E'town. The Santa Maria landed in Elizabethtown, and the road up to Spruce Hill was claimed for Queen Isabella. Everyone knows that Columbus was an avid XC ski racer. When he was left off of the '92 Italian Olympic team, he expatriated to Spain. There, he convinced the olympic commitee that the trails at Mt. Van Ho are NOT flat. And if you kept skiing around the ladies' 5, you would return to the stadium, and not fall off the end of the world. They gave him three sets of freshly stoneground skis, which he dubbed Nina, Pinta and Santa Maria. The Peru Nordic Masters celebrated these achievements of Christopher Columbus with two consecutive 14.92 minute classic rollerski intervals. Jim Kobak and Chris Rose soaked in the spectacular fall foliage as they ripped off some impressive classic skiing. Conspicuously absent were Captain Bob "Stubing" Maswick with Cruise Director, Joe Korzinecki and ship's purser, Ed "Gopher" Lis. It is feared that these hearty sailors were lost to some great sea monster, or fell victim to buccaneers, or were scalped by angry savages, or most likely were sipping margaritas served by Issac on the Fiesta Deck. Neverless, the European diseases left by the participants should surely decimate the competition during the upcoming NYSSRA season. 2006-10-08 15:24:33 GMT
