June Racing Notes

Lets just say that June has started with a BANG!!

First of all let me say I hope that Dan is ok and so is his car.  There was a huge pile up in turn one on the 3rd lap of the feature.  With nowhere to go I decided to follow a couple of other cars out the chute and come back around onto the track.  Unfortunately the 77 car driven by Dan Macintyre spun right across in front of me and blocked the route.  I was already into the gas to leave and was unable to stop.

I remember yelling to Dan to see if he was ok and then the next thing I remember is someone yelling my name.  Things are pretty fuzzy after that.  I remember them cutting my car up and trying to get out of the car so they would not destroy it.  This was not successful.!!

I did not really "come to" completely until we were almost at the hospital in the ambulance.  The attendant was very kind and helpful.  ( I dont recommend travelling on a back board)

After several (8) hours at the hospital for observations and Xrays, I was released (well drugged) for the ride home.  I dont remember much of that either...slept finally.  We arrived home at 9:30 a.m. and climbed into a nice soft bed to try to sleep.

Today is Monday and although sore and stiff, I will race another day and so will the car.  It was taken to the crew chief Rob Young for assessment today and other than a bent tierod and a trashed shock, the car just needs the roll bars welded back on. Nothing 3 hours wont cure!

I am not sure if my husband and my body will ever let me get back in the car but if I have my way, I will be back out there this saturday night!!

A huge thanks to everyone at the track, officials for responding so quickly and all the other racers that pitched in and helped get me out of the car safely and then get the cars loaded on the trailers.  Most of all a huge thanks to my husband for being so supportive through it all.

See you at the track Race FANS!!
