Injuries at Buxton

Sorry it has taken me so  long to post but I am not able to type well with my wrist and hand.

Here is the update from Saturday night.

It was amazingly muddy out there and after the 11 car swept through the infield splashing me with wet muck, I had to remove my last tearoff.  The rest of the race was done with my hand trying to remove what mud I could.  I got into the 25 car in a spin in turn 3 and that caused my hood to bend upwards on the front left making visibility even worse.  As I drove the D and the back straightaway my hood raised up and if anyone was directly in front of me I was unable to see them so I tried to keep my distance.

The 75 car spun in turn 3 and I T-boned him so hard that my left hand ripped the steering wheel right off the mount.  All 3 bolts holding it in were stripped out of the connector.  I felt my wrist flip back and my hand hit my arm near the elbow (I dont think we are supposed to bend that way)  The pain was excruiciating!  I am sure many fans and other racers could hear the screams as I tried to get someone to come and help me.  The Safety guys were probably the only ones that could not hear me.

I went to Leamington Hospital where they put it in a cast for the night, pumped me full of drugs and sent me home so I could come back sunday for Xrays.  The Dr. was sure there would be lots of broken bones and the swelling was getting pretty bad.

I returned to hospital Sunday afternoon and the Xrays showed no broken bones...WOW..Just loads of bruising and a very very bad sprain in the wrist and hand.  I was very pleased and surprised.

I will not be able to drive this weekend so Rob Young will be back at the helm once again.  I hope with some physio I can get back in the car soon.

Stay tuned for more updates next week!
