Okay, so the picture idea didn't work.
Just to make one thing clear--they didn't pile the snow behind our car. They shoveled two lanes out for their cars and threw the snow to the sides, but left a Corolla-width column of snow behind our car that extended to the street. The problem I have with that is that apparently they didn't think that in order for us to get the snow out from behind our car, we'd have to shovel it over their nice, neat lanes that they made. I mean, we're not talking a few inches here. It was about 2 1/2 feet high. Kind of stupid.
After I posted that entry last night, I put on some snow gear, grabbed a Polaroid camera I've had sitting around, and went outside to take a picture of the baracade behind our car. Travis had been up at the church helping Rev. Dobosi plow the parking lot, but he'd come back while I was inside and was already working on the driveway. Still in my huff, I tried to take a picture and the camera wouldn't work. So, knowing I really couldn't be too mad at our neighbors, I abandoned the idea and resigned myself to just get over it and try to keep peace with them. Just because they did a stupid thing doesn't mean they have a mean streak. Travis, however, doesn't really care what our neighbors think and was spreading the snow out behind their cars. (Chuckle) But I was like, "No, babe, we can't do that," as much as I wanted to.
We only have one shovel, so I banged on their door to ask if I could use one of theirs, not saying a thing about their utter lack of consideration, forethought, etc. He looked pretty sheepish, so I think he understood WHY I was wanting to borrow one of their shovels.
So we froze half to death, pushed most of the snow to the outer edges, cleaned around all the cars, and pushed some snow to the other side of the street. (It wouldn't make sense to push it into the street just outside the driveway because when the plow came through it would just pile it right back up behind all our cars.)
Anyway, that's enough of that. I think some people just don't think or apply a little brainpower to what they do. I think we all have been guilty of that. But, we're still going to try to work on this relationship. They seem to be nice people, just locked in some kind of tunnel vision.
