Hi all,
Sorry for the lack of updates, but there hasn't been that much going on. It has been unseasonably warm here. At 7:30 this morning it was 51 degrees. I'm guessing we should be in snow up to our eyeballs, but you know what? I'm liking this. No shoveling, no rock salt, no freezing. Yay.
Well, I guess I'll give a little Curves update. I had my second weigh-in about a week or so ago, and I was pleased with the results. Still losing inches overall, but I gained two pounds. Not really concerned with that. On Monday Travis and I are both planning to start the Curves diet, so the poundage is on its way out.
We went to Canada for our anniversary and it was really nice. I could really see the culture difference. I felt like I was in Britain with all the "-ours" and kilometers and "the Queen's" everything. Kingston is a beautiful city, though. Everyone was very laid back. No one was in a big hurry to do anything, except our waitress, who did a very good job.
Speaking of that, I had probably the most fabulous meal I've ever eaten. I had something called "Soprasota". I don't know what they cooked the tomatoes in, but I think bacon was a part of it and they were delicious. Same with the pasta. It had some kind of seasoned salt on it and it was like nothing I've ever tasted before. Then for dessert I had a little souffle bowl of melted dark and semi-sweet chocolates poured into cream and chilled, so it made a very thick pudding/mousse. I guess it would be a ganache. It was served on a plate with huge blackberries, strawberries and other fruit all around it. I felt like I was a judge on Iron Chef. Wow. Unfortunately, Canadians don't know what to do with biscotti. They served the chilled chocolate with a biscotti stick. Uhh... was I supposed to scoop the chocolate cement stuff out with it? Thankfully I had ordered an espresso, so I was able to eat the biscotti properly. But when I ordered it, I asked her if she could put chocolate in the espresso. She had never heard of that before. Yikes. So she brought me a little cup with chocolate sauce the chefs made and a little spoon. Wow, was that good. I couldn't finish it all for fear that I would go into diabetic shock.
Travis tried to explain to her that I lived in Washington for a while and that's why I liked chocolate espresso. She was like, "...oh...he he..." Totally uneducated about coffee and Seattle in general, but she did a great job overall.
We have fellowship meeting up here tomorrow (which is one reason why we're not starting the diet until Monday!)
Otherwise, it has been very quiet lately.
