Good news:
I got the results of my follow-up cholesterol test and it was 168, which is excellent. I also lost 15 pounds! Woo-hoo!
We're pretty much moved in to the new apartment. We brought the essentials and the big stuff, so now I just have to sort through the rest of it and clean the old apartment.
I love it here. It's so small that I can't be a slob. But then again, it's easy not to be messy because I don't have to work as hard to clean up. The only thing I don't like is the full bathroom. I don't need a tub. A shower stall would have been just fine, and then I could have used the extra space for laundry stuff. But I'm not complaining. I love it.
Our washer and dryer are working great. The dryer vent idea went bust, though. After careful planning, cutting, and hooking things together (and about $40) it fell apart. It ended up being easier just to throw the hose out the window went I wanted to use the dryer. It might look ghetto, but I'm happily doing laundry at my own place.
In trying to maximize storage space, I was going to buy those under-the-bed storage bins. But then I realized that I was going to need a place to put my suitcases. Combine the two ideas, and BINGO! The only problem was raising the bed so the suitcases could fit. I tried to find these bed riser-things I'd seen before, but no one had them. So I walked around Lowe's trying to find something cheap that could raise the bed. Masonry! I got four half-size cinder blocks for $0.95 each. Ultra cool. They gave the bed an extra three or four inches and I didn't have to spend a ton of money.
