Another Day in Paradise!
Whats up in Kapoho on the Big Island!
Entry for March 15, 2007

Our composting pile is done! Well at least the first one!! We were so excited to use soil out of it to plant with yesterday. This is our first "crop" of compost to soil. Thanks to Peter!!! for the "mini-volcano" compost piles he made in January. Yes it only took about 8 weeks to go from raw material to soil! Although the coconut husks didn't compost well so we pulled them out and are going to use them in a very long term pile. They can take years to breakdown. So we are re-openign volcano #1 for new compost and closing #2 to works its magic now. I guess if it takes about 8 weeks on each one, we probably need about 4 going full time, rotating into use. Peter was a visitor who found us on the formerly free Hawaii WWOOF 'ers website. We have so enjoyed having WWOOF ' ers here! They have added an incredible energy to our garden!
