Crystal Kay

This very talented singer started making waves in Japan and had a record deal all by the time she was 12. Part of the reason for this may be her musical roots (her father was a bassist and her mother a singer). However people really began talking with the release of her 3rd album
gAlmost Seventeenh in 2002. With itsfmix of pop, ballad, and R&B tracks the CD debuted at No. 2 in the album rankings and produced the hit singles "Girl U Love" and "Hard to Say" (featuring Sphere of Influence).

Even at such a young age (she is 17 now), she is helping to bring about a wave of internationalization to the Japanese Pop music industry. Her father is black-American and her mother was born in Korea, but Crystal Kay was raised in the Japanese city of Yokohama. Therefore she speaks English and Japanese fluently, she is young, has a great look and of course she
can sing (not always a priority in the J-Pop world). All this has helped her to reach that all important younger generation fan-base in the J-pop market.

She released a sucessful 4th album
g4Realh at the beginning of 2004 and before that had a huge hit with the single gReewindh in a collaborative effort with M-Flo. And she is only 17! Be on the look out for more from this young sensation.
