| B'z This popular rock duo's background is a story of two very different styles working together to make a totally new sound. The band was founded 15 years ago by Koshi Inaba (vocals) and Takahiro Matsumoto (guitar). Before they met, Ianaba was doing mostly Euro-Beat material. While Matsumoto started his career doing back-up guitar for the popular 80's band TMN Network. But his sound edged more towards rock and metal. After meeting they bagan developing ways to combine their respective work and debuted as B'z in 1988. Their sound combined a mix of up-tempo beats and melodies, strong vocals, and rock guitar seamlessly threaded throughout the music (Matsumoto's experience with TMN Network helped him to acheive this). However, they didn't get their breakout hit until 3 years later in '91 with the single "Lady Navigation". Since then many of their single releases have reached number one on the music chart rankings. Their biggest hits include "Blowing", "Zero" and "It's Showtime". They are considered by Japanese fans to have a very powerful sound and great stage presence.
