The Jagd und ZerstörerGeschwader 23 is a role-playing virtual German Squadron.
The club is comprised of members from around the world, who take roles as German Luftwaffe pilots during world war II, and fly the German Aircraft from that era.
Chain of Command
The Geschwader is structured by heirarchy rank and file. The Chain of Command begins with Oberst Maarek Stele, GeschwaderKommodore. The entire Geschwader falls under his juristiction. Below his level of command are the GruppenKommodores OberstLeutnant Claude DeBussy, Oberstleutnant Manfred von Richthofen, and OberstLeutnant Holger Linge. These three report and relay the orders of the Oberst to their respective Gruppen. The three Gruppen are Phoenix, Greif, and Harpyie. Each of these Gruppen are comprised of a number of Staffel, which have at their command a StaffelKappitän. Major Wolf Floyd, Major Horst Nomade, Major Upham DeBruin, and Major Martin Hartmann each have the duty of relaying the orders and reports of their Schwarms to and from the GruppenKommodores. These four StaffelKappitän contact the Schwarmführer(s) of the Schwarm.
The Pilots themselves must obey Chain of Command. They send any request, greivance, Pilot Report, or Official letter via their Schwarmführer. This Hauptmann then forwards onto his StaffelKappitän, and this Major forwards to his GruppenKommandant.
Pilot Reports and JZG23 Meeting
Pilot Reports MUST be in on time. Reports are filed and sent to the Hauptmann of the Schwarm at the conclusion of each combat mission week. The Schwarmführer will specify a particular time for submitting the report, but generally Pilots MUST submit their reports NO LATER than JZG23 Meeting time. Failure to report will incure a warning, with consecutive failures contributing to a WehrBuch Rules inclusion in your Pilot roster file. Ultimately, Dismissal may result. JZG Pilot Report..
JZG23 Meeting commences on Sunday 1600hrs Berlin time. The Meeting is held on the Mirc - JZG Channel, and attendance is compulsory. If a pilot cannot attend, then he must inform his superior officer in the Pilot Report. Whilst in the meeting, ALL Pilots will display their Rank and will adhere to correct edict.
Offizial Geschwader Letterhead
The Official Geschwader Letterhead is standard issue stationary. This letterhead MUST be used for all correspondance to and from JZG23 Pilots and Officers. The Letter format comprises of the JZG23 banner, followed by the Addressee (An:) and Addresser (Von:), the body of the letter, and at the foot of the page- the Name, Rank, and title of the sender, E-mail address, ICQ number, and jzg23.de slogan. JZG Official Letterhead..
Saluting
Saluting of a superior officer is mandatory. The shorthand for the salute is - *!* - and is unique to the JZG23. Any outsider will immediately recognise this as a JZG salute. Addressing a superior officer is performed by saluting, then typing his rank and name. Alternatively, addressing as Herr "officer" is highly regarded when the rank of the officer is unknown.
Every effort must be made to know your Superior officer's name and rank.
Offizers Messe
Commendations and Decorations awarded to pilots are usually followed by congratulations and salutations on the JZG Officers Messe. This Message board is NOT for complaints. Sensible messages, Notices, and Congratulory remarks, often Tactical Tips and sometimes Role-playing Stories of valour and heroism can be read on the Messe Board. Use it!
Missions Sorties and Training
Combat Missions are flown with AT LEAST one other JZG23 Pilot. Co-operations of JZG pilots and outsiders are also possible, and the mission is logged at the end by the number of Enemy Aircraft Shot Down, Ground Targets Destroyed, Bombers Intercepted, and finally whether you survived or were shot down. If you crashed or were shot down during the mission, then it is INCOMPLETE. A COMPLETE mission is defined as surviving combat, and there are NO enemy aircraft in sight at the end of the mission. Egress is possible if you are badly damaged, by which you must fly out of visual range to be permitted to end the mission.
Training Flights are identical to Combat Missions in that you must fly with AT LEAST on other JZG23 Pilot. You may only log a training flight if you flew a German Aircraft. Other Aircraft may be flown so that your JZG opponent can get some vital training against you, and you can mention these incidents in the Pilot Report.
Reporting of Missions/Training Sorties are via the Reports database at the jzg23.de website. In the Notes section you have the opportunity to write a short story of your engagement.
Role-Playing
Role-Playing is the Name of the Game.
At all times, play your Character as if it was YOU speaking. We are all friends here, so often their will be times where we will play ourselves. When we are in groups, Always Play the Role of your pilot. Speak about your Aircraft technician, your Staffel-car Driver, or the food in the mess hall. Describe an (imaginary) Aerial Combat experience, or the fitting of new Cannons to your aircraft.
When flying, calling to your Kamerades "IN!" signifies your wholeheartedness in the fight. When the enemy is sighted, calling "Kontakt!" tells the others to be ready. If you need help or if another needs help, then by flying as a Rotte, and in a group, you all can help each other achieve victory.
Role-Playing is the Basis of this club, and the Essence of our Fun!
