When I first heard about Beck coming to St. Paul I was partying over at my friends house and decided to log on to Beck.com to check the news.  I checked in the tour section as I do everytime I log on to find that Beck, my idol, my sole inspiration, was coming to St. Paul for a solo acoustic set on August 9th 2002.  Without even knowing how I would pay for the tickets or get to St. Paul, the next day I went online and bought a single ticket for myself.  After the relief of getting the ticket, I had to find out how I was going to get to St. Paul.  I knew that my friend John from college lived in Minneapolis and he has long since been a fan of Beck.  So I called him up and he was just as excited to hear that Beck was playing.  John tried aimlessly to get a ticket but failed in the end.  He still agreed to meet me in St. Paul for I was taking a bus on an eight hour ride.  The ride to St. Paul was very long and shitty for I was so jacked up to finally be seeing Beck.  I brought my collection of Beck albums to listen to along the way.  When I arrived at the bus station in St. Paul I was pleased to find my friend John parked outside already waiting for me.  We had three hours until show time and we still have to find John a ticket to the show.  About an hour to show time we were standing outside the historic Fitzgerald Theater in downtown St. Paul.  There was a line of people there trying to get a last minute ticket.  I already having my ticket, stood next to John yelling "Extra Tickets Anyone?"  We recieved no answer!  It was 20 minutes to show time and the doors opened to the box office, people scurried into the door hoping for their chance on getting a last minute ticket.  John disappeared into the crowd while I yelled at him that I was going in and to wait outside after the show if he didnt get a ticket.  I went into the theater and immediatley bought a Beck T-shirt and a sticker as souveniers.  I went into the theater and was seated.  I was so surprised at the size of the venue.  I was so happy that I was seeing Beck in such an intimate setting.  For the next 15 minutes I worried about John, hoping that he would find a ticket and be able to experience the show with me.  I kept looking back, and to my surprise he comes John.  I was so happy!  I thought that he would be seated way across the theater, but it worked out that he was one seat behind me.  We both were really excited as he told me that at the last minute a lady came out and said that she had a single ticket for sale. Before anyone else moved, John snatched it from her.  We were so relieved it worked out!!  The show started and I saw Beck come out of the shadows, my heart raced as I screamed BECK!!!!!  It was a dream come true to be in the same room as my favorite musician.  The whole show was very intimate as Beck played older songs and newer songs off of his upcoming album.  I was so amazed at the talent that is BECK!  Set aside from the drunk asshole up in the balcony who kept yelling "Satan Gave Me A Taco" the whole show was very enjoyable.  One of the defining moments in my life.  After the show John and I must have reflected back on the show we just seen for at least two hours.  I finally had seen Beck.  The next concert I would attend would be even more memorable!!!
MY FIRST SHOW
MY SECOND SHOW
August 8th, 2002-Fitzgerald Theatre-St.Paul, MN
October 17th-2002-Orpeum Theatre-Minneapolis, MN
My buddy Cavour, who is like one of my best friends, was in Europe when Beck came to St. Paul.  It broke his heart to know that I was going to see Beck for the first time and that he would have to wait for a long time for Beck to come back.  Low and behold a few months later, theres Minneapolis on the tour schedule.  Cavour bought a ticket right away, then he called me and real sarcastically told me that he had a ticket.  I told him to pick me one up right away.
