Landscape / Nature

<home>

My first photographs were in colour. I started with negs and then progressed onto slides. Projecting my first colour slide landscape onto a screen was  indeed a memorable experience! Most of my colour pictures are outdoors as these were the main subjects that initially captured my interest in photography.

I gained a much better understanding of landscape photography after attending John Gravett's Lakeland Photographic Holiday course in the Lake District, UK. I learnt to observe the subtleties of changing light conditions in scenic shots and to not neglect the interesting details and textures that can be found just by looking down. Defining the entire experience, I can remember huddling behind my tripod with the wind in my hair, just watching waves of warm sunlight wash over the rolling hills  as the clouds moved overhead, patiently waiting for the light to touch the trees in just the right way, and when it did, a flurry of picture-taking, then John proclaiming, "That's landscape photography, boys!".
