WINTER FALLS
Silence blankets us as winter falls
The quiet calms us with the snow
Dancing flakes enchant us all
On sloping hills our sleds will go

Footsteps crunch on icecold days
Chickadees peep their friendly song
Skies are painted in a gray haze
Snuggling during nights so long

Trees stand guard in forests deep
Fence posts wearing caps of white
Animals settle for winter's sleep
Sun sparkling on diamonds bright

Smoke curling from chimney tops
Branches iced like frosted cakes
Rosey cheeks color playful tots
Clouds dance when the day breaks

Warm glows from houses sleeping
We bundle up for strong wind
Cherished memories we are keeping
As winter falls on us again
