Despite our best efforts, we were unable to inflict enough damage on the occupying SRR forces to begin ground operations.  Along with the numerical superiority the SRR has in the field, our inability to sufficiently reduce their war fighting infrastructure and their ability to defend their airspace has led to the decision by NATO that a ground assault would be doomed to failure. 

The failure of NATO to thwart the SRR is seen as a major shift in world power and could signal a return to the cold war days, according to several top news analysts.  As part of the continuing fallout of the debacle in Norway, US Military morale has plunged to its lowest level since the end of the Vietnam era.

In Congress, recent weapons acquisitions by the US Military have come under increasing fire following the defeat in Norway.  The very future of the carrier battle group as a viable force has come under question.  In particular, critics of the Navy's newest fighter aircraft, the F/A-18E Super Hornet, have been harshly denouncing the aircraft as "a failure" and there are increasing indication that the entire program may be cancelled.
