A number of Red ballistic missile submarines have been either destroyed or heavily damaged along with their supporting port facilities in a series of heavy NATO airstrikes.  NATO air units also launched repeated attacks on all known weapons of mass destruction storage facilities and delivery platforms throughout the Kola.  While denying NATO has removed the WMD option from the Red military, a Red spokesman claims that quote in the interest of mankind unquote Red forces will not be the first to use WMD in combat.  NATO intelligence believes this shift in position is an attempt by Red forces to cover up the extent of their losses.

A major Blue Russian counter-offensive was launched against Red forces near St Petersburg with both NATO and Blue air force units jointly providing air support.  Initial reports are encouraging. Denied the support of their comrades under siege in the Kola, the Red forces around St Petersburg are said to be "crumbling".

ACLANT has decided that the next series of air attacks in the North will be focused on reducing Red ground forces in the area as a possible prelude to future ground operations.  A US Marine Expeditionary force has completed training in the Norwegian Sea and has now gotten underway from Bodo, Norway, bound for the Arctic Sea.
