Wish we could say April Fools today. However, we are deep into war and it does appear that it will be months before our troops are out of there.

April 5th,

It is so depressing what is happening in this war. So many people are being hurt.

April 31st,

This month has flown by so fast, and I haven't had but a chance to check in and write in my journal. So let me put the highlights here and see you all next month!

It appears that the war has ended, but troops remain in the area. The people of Iraq are asking the Americans to leave the country. Some people are seemingly happy that the Americans are there, but they may be affraid to say differently.

Otherwise in my little world: My VBAC client signed up with me officially. I will be hosting a Birthing From Within class for her and some other women. I have been working hard this month to finish up my labor support certification test and requirements. Hope to have it all finished by the end of May.

The kids have been having a wonderful time in the warm days/cool nights weather. It is my favorite time of the year except that I get allergies from all the plants and that bothers me. For the last few days, we have been having little tea parties outside on the front porch and now they are asking each day for a tea party. The yard is finally cut and trimmed, AND partially raked. It looks nice, and the kids love running around in the yard chasing each other. We are going to get a slip n slide to play with on the very hot days that are soon to be.

A natural parenting and homeschooling friend is coming to visit with her girls soon, and I have been working on getting the space for them ready. I also rearraged the furniture (we have a living dining combo unfortunately!) so that the sofa faces the dining space and gives a bit of a divider for the room.

I am finishing up some knitting projects that got started in the winter, but never completed. Now I will have some things to put up on Ebay. Ravi wants to make something special for my sister for her birthday, so we are working on a knitted gift for her. Since she reads this journal sometimes, we won't say what it is! (wink!)

Easter was fun this year with the kids this year. Ravi is totally out of the baby easter basket syndrone. He is now running with the big kids grabbing easter eggs as fast as possible, and Lakshmi and Priya were toddling around my parents farm grabbing eggs, some falling out as others were already cracked and looked at. My parents property looked so beautiful this year, and it was nice to stand back and watch them run around.

Ravi has started his Spanish lessons two weeks back, and it will go on for 6 more weeks. I think he likes it, so we will keep it going. The teacher is from El Salvadore, so we are getting a Central American style Spanish. She is so great with our kids. Our homeschooling group has a problem sometimes getting people to understand that our kids like to learn together, and that we don't see it necessary to break them up into small age groups. She seems to like working with the group. Also, she encourages the parents to participate, as well as siblings. That's cool! So all three kids are learning Spanish!

And for me again, I have gone on a diet called Dr. Akins, which most of you must have heard of by now. So it is controversary, but it may save my life. It seems I may have diabetes (type II). My doctor suggested a low carb high protein diet for me. The kids will continue with their normal diet. I have already lost 12 pounds. Not only that, but I have lost inches. For once in my life, my breast are smaller! Part is due to the girls nursing less, but this diet has helped too. My fingers and face are slimmer. I think if I reach my goal, I will have not only good health, but it will help me to feel good about my body image. I just recently started walking at night. I know it isn't the best time to walk, but it is my only time to walk. When the kids and I go for walks, I have to stop constantly. I never can work up a sweat. So I get the kids in bed and then walk for 30 minutes out in front of my house. I walk from one light post to the other, then back again., over and over! But best of all, my kids will appreciate a stress free mama, and a mama who can keep up with them. While it seems terrible to have a diagnoses like this, I think it has actually been good for me.

See you all in May!

Love, Jyotsna
