| Work: 2007 has brought many changes for us. It's only June and we are in the process of both leaving our current jobs, packing up our home, selling our horses and preparing for the Army way of life. Greg joined the US Army one day before his 42nd birthday in March and next week he graduates Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Benning, Georgia. Lynda wrappped up her 4th year at Nucla Jr/Sr High with a week long trip to Denver with the 8th grade class. Now she is interviewing by phone with schools in and around Fort Campbell, Kentucky. It will be a new adventure for both of them. Stay tuned for more news. |
| Home: In 2007, our travel has been mainly related to military leaves and training. In February, we went to Salt Lake for Greg's swearing in to the Army. In March, we visited with Mike and Amanda in Seattle on his mid-deployment leave. Lynda also spent some time in the Denver area with the MacFarlanes and their kids came to the ranch for a few days right after school was out in May. Lynda was able to visit Greg for 2 days in May when he got a weekend pass after Basic Training. Then, in June, Greg's 101 year old grandmother Addie Mae Brumley passed away. The military released him for her funeral and Lynda met him in Cottonwood, AZ. The rest of the year will include one more trip to Denver, then to Georgia for Greg's graduation, then home to the ranch to pack and move across the country. After that, we need to sit still a bit!!! Mike is due to come home sometime in the fall. And, then the holidays wlll be upon us all again. |
Ranch: We will keep our little ranch in SW Colorado while we are serving in the military. But, we did have to sell the horses and most of the tack and equipment. One of the horses is now training to be a rodeo and show horse in Olathe, CO. Another is being ridden regularly by one of my junior high students! And the last one is staying on the ranch to be trained by the new tenants moving in here in July. We will more than likely be living a more urban lifestyle in the years to come... but you never know! So, Lynda kept her favorite saddle and tack. Besides, Fort Campbell has stables and riding trails. |
