What I am doing and How I did it.
I started cutting the flowers and putting them on top of the concrete stump. Then I realized I wanted the top to hang over the side pieces, so had to transfer all the mosaic to a board and put it together face down.
Then I glued the pieces with window screen and thinset. It didn't adhere to well so I Plopped down a huge pile of cement, smoothed it out and used a salad bowl bigger than the circumference of the mosaic to cut it out like a cookie cutter. Let it dry. Flipped it over and grouted the whole thing with a wet cement.
I plan to set the stump on a couple on a pile of cement and form it up the sides, leaving a base that looks similar to a terra cotta pot with a saucer. Also I will be attaching two handle before cementing for carrying purposes.
I will leave the base and top separate for tranporting purposes as both are extremely heavy.
The top thus far is about 28" in diameter.
