On this page, I will present little tid-bits that I have come up with over the years. Most of them will concern individual 'Mechs. Maybe some of it is even useful to you.

Clan OmniMechs by numbers

Originally found on my front page, this is a rundown of all the Clan OmniMechs with their defining attributes. Essentially, this can be seen as a guide to your 'Mech force selection. The same list is presented ordered in four different ways, so that you'll be happy no matter what preference you have!

Clan Omnis by numbers

Inner Sphere OmniMechs by numbers

The companion to above list. Much shorter and more linear; hence only ordered in two different ways.

Short words of wisdom

Ever so often, a thought crosses my mind which I will deem worthy to be noted down. The most worthy I will even repeat here!

The AC5 is a great gun! Is there any arguing with it?

A little spiel on armour. Because thin armour isn't neccessarily bad armour!

'Mech of the Week

My little contribution to the fan articles over at
CBT.com. The link in the title will take you to the corresponding thread.

Mist Lynx / Koshi - January 30th, 2008. My first little article in which I was A) finding my tone and B) actually had a few interesting points! Finally, the "Small Death" gets the attention it long needed.

Black Lanner - February 26th, 2008. An often-overlooked Falcon medium. No competition to the Storm Crow at all.

"Pariah" - June 1st, 2008. Fresh off the release of TRO: 3075, I beautifully summarise all the facts of the 'Mech, yet completely miss the point of its context. Thank you very much to Brian Davion for giving me a much-needed pointer!

Kit Fox / Uller - July 3rd, 2008. One of the worst-ever cases of obligatory homework. All work and no play makes jymset a dull boy...

Gargoyle / Man O' War - September 12th, 2008. Truly one of the 'Mechs that is always on my mind. A real favourite, yet nowhere near as spectacular as the Summoner or Executioner. Writing this definitely contributed to a peace of mind of sorts.

Mad Dog / Vulture / Hagetaka - October 18th, 2008. Coming to you with a glorious three names is this ubiquitous member of the 3050 heavy Omni-brigade - a daunting task to tackle. Rock solid in most configurations, the E can apparently not beat a Hunchback IIC...

Pillager [StarDate] - November 14th, 2008. Doing what jymset does best, this was a supplement to the 3058 Pillager article.

3025 'Mechs and their variants

This little project is something that I maintain at
Mordel's. As opposed to the above set of articles, these do not actually introduce the variants of any given design. Much rather, they assume the reader's knowledge and try to discuss the merit of said designs fulfilling certain roles. To succeed at that, I have gone back to the 7 categories laid down by Brian Nystul in First Strike (1996), p. 12-16:
  Scouts
  Strikers
  Skirmishers
  Brawlers
  Snipers
  Missile Boats
  Juggernauts
They are so fundamental, yet hold true in almost every situation. I hear that this portion of First Strike is actually reprinted in the current boxed set. (I don't have it yet - if it isn't, I suggest you chase down that book!)

The following articles range from the somewhat thorough to the very brief. For further discussion I highly recommend above's thread.

MAD-3* Marauder - September 19th, 2006
ON-1* Orion - September 23rd, 2006
BLR-1* Battlemaster - September 29th, 2006
TBT-5* (& 7K) Trebuchet - October 4th, 2006
RFL-3* (& 4D) Rifleman - November 27th, 2007
CGR-1* (& SB) Charger (Challenger) - November 30th, 2007
CTF-1* Cataphract - September 1st, 2008
WVR-6* Wolverine - September 16th, 2008
TDR-5* Thunderbolt - September 20th, 2008
