SOUNDS AND SIGNS, final album: the brown solfeggio reading and writing book for children ages 10 and up and for beginning adults
The Brown book emphasizes reading in the G (treble) clef but includes some C Clef exercises as learned in the Blue Album. Transposition, 2 and 3 part singing, and interpretation of more complex rhythms and meters are included in many exercises. The album also has game pages, artisanly drawn.
This is the chromatic scale, studied in a number system with "+" for the # sign and "-" for the flat sign.
Rhythms are not only studied mathematically. Students should 'feel' the rhythms and transport them into their spoken language by inventing phrases.
The Brown book has 28 pages like the Red, Green and Blue books. Both C and G clefs are studied and sung collectively. Pitches can be movable.
Many writing exercises are included in the book. This page shows transcription exercises from one clef to another. It's almost a puzzle to resolve!
