One run was the difference at RFK STADIUM as the New England Storm ended a

long winless drought and defeated the Hogwarts Wizards 10 to 9.

Scott Eyre(1-0) looked good in relief and was the winning pitcher. He allowed

only 1 hit and 1 walk in 2 innings. Hogwarts made it exciting in the 9th,

but they were unable to push the needed runs across.

Eyre was helped out by Billy Wagner who recorded his 5th save. Justin

Duchscherer(1-1) was the loser in relief. He pitched 1 and 2/3 innings

allowing 2 hits and no walks.

Shortstop Khalil Greene went deep and had 3 RBI as the Hogwarts Wizards

defeated the New England Storm by a score of 10 to 4 at RFK STADIUM.

Greene provided much of the offense. He doubled plating a run in the 2nd

inning, smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly' (his 3rd of the season) in the 7th

inning and delivered a single which scored a run in the 8th inning. Overall

Hogwarts out-hit New England 11 to 8.

The victory was credited to Pedro Astacio(2-0) who went 3 innings, allowing no

runs. Randy Johnson(3-2) absorbed the loss. He gave up 5 runs and 5 hits in

6 and 1/3 innings.

Ben Sheets dominated striking out 13 Hogwarts batters at Shea Stadium as the

New England Storm beat the Hogwarts Wizards by the count of 3 to

Sheets(1-0) pitched a solid game. He went 7 innings allowing 7 hits and 2

walks and surrendered 2 homeruns. The Hogwarts batters went down meekly in

the bottom of the 9th.

Billy Wagner recorded the save, his 6th. Matt Wise(1-2) took the loss in

relief. He surrendered 1 hit and 1 walk in 1 and 2/3 innings.

'He was really impressive tonight,' Wise said of his counterpart. 'Our guys

were just swinging at air.'

18,869 fans watched an exciting game at Shea Stadium. The Hogwarts Wizards

topped the New England Storm by the slimmest of margins, 4 to 3.

Both teams were tied at 3 runs apiece after nine innings. Hogwarts won the

hard fought contest in the 12th inning. So Taguchi delivered a single.

Khalil Greene came to the plate and drew a walk. Adam Dunn then doubled

giving Hogwarts the win and sending the home town fans into a frenzy.

Hogwarts ended up with 10 hits for the game while New England had 6.

Justin Duchscherer(2-1) went 1 inning allowing no runs for the victory. J.J.

Putz(0-1) was given the loss in relief. He surrendered 1 run and 1 hit in

2/3 of an inning.

Mike Mussina pitched a complete game as the Hogwarts Wizards man-handled the

New England Storm - the final score was 11 to 1.

Hogwarts set the tone of the game in the first inning scoring 2 runs utilizing

3 base hits. Lance Berkman led off and started the rally when he laced a

base-knock. Jason Giambi stepped up next and he doubled. Marcus Giles was

the next batter, but he struck out. One out later, Garrett Atkins came up

and he doubled driving home two runs. That scoring would be all that was

needed. Hogwarts finished with 17 hits in the victory.

Mussina(4-0) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 1 run. Randy

Johnson(3-3) was the losing pitcher. He allowed a few too many baserunners

giving up 9 hits and 2 walks in 3 and 1/3 innings.
