The game started off with Marysville taking the lead in the first scoring 2

In a dramatic ending at Angels Stadium the Saugus Centurions won in their last

at-bat beating the Marysville Monarchs by the count of 6 to 5.

Saugus scored the deciding run in the bottom of the 9th inning. After an out

was recorded, Russell Martin laced a one-base hit. After another out, Jhonny

Peralta stepped in and he banged out a single. Garret Anderson then slapped

a base-hit making Saugus the winners and sending the 10,500 fans home happy.

Saugus ended up with 14 hits for the game while Marysville had 5.

Joakim Soria(1-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 2/3 of an inning and

allowing 1 run. Rafael Betancourt(0-1) was hit with the loss in relief. He

gave up 1 run and 3 hits in 2/3 of an inning.

At Angels Stadium, the Saugus faithful were treated to an intriguing pitcher's

duel. John Lackey(4-0) finally bested his Saugus counterpart, Carlos

Villanueva(1-2), by the score of 2 to 1.

Marysville brought 2 runs across the plate in the top of the 6th inning when

they had 3 base hits. After an out was recorded, Todd Helton began the rally

when he lined a one-base hit. Magglio Ordonez came next and he blasted a

two-run home run (his 2nd of the season). The game was a scoreless duel

until the 6th inning.

Jonathan Papelbon was credited with his 3rd save. Villanueva suffered the
