At the risk of sounding stupid......this seems to support what I was saying. From what I understand of it, we are talking about a chemical change that happens......like a bike rusting in a corner untouched, or an old farm house.

The chemicals change and that is what causes the Law of thermodynamics.....or deterioration of matter. I can see there are different heat changes and other formulas that cause this reaction, but plainly put.......wouldn't that apply to what I said? Leaving something unattended would result in deterioration, and regarding the earth that is the opposite. If we leave it alone it it fairs better....which defies the Second Law of thermodynamics. Doesn't it?

2. What is Thermodynamics?
Thermodynamics is the branch of science which studies the transformation of energy from one form to another.

Chemical thermodynamics looks at the energy transformations which occur as a result of chemical reactions.
