Maybe among some of the old timers who remember the old promise that the end would come in the 20th century. But even then, since the century and the millenium don't end until Dec. 31st, 2000, there is still a year more to go.
I'm not aware of any expectations for Jan. 1, 2000 as there is nothing of note about this date, really, other than the Y2K bug. And the WTS explicitly states that they don't connect Armageddon with Y2K.
