Yes, people in general more readily accept that the earth revolves around the sun than they accept evolution. Give it time. Evolution is fairly new compared to astronomy. Science has pushed beliefs back one by one over the centuries. Even the most ardent believers have to eventually admit their beliefs were wrong. I believe the same will eventually happen with evolution.
Even if most scientists today may agree that the Genesis is a myth comparable with other creation myths, they have not been able to find such a good and trustworthy explanation credible enough to be accepted as the truth for common man.
I disagree with this. One very good and trustworthy explanation is that the order of creation in Genesis is just wrong. I think the common man has not been told this, but it's simple enough to grasp once told.
