Interesting comments, but I think you have made a mistake in going from my general words to your specific inferences. I agree with what you have said about avoiding materialism or having children think they can get what they want whenever they want it. That has not been the case with my son, specifically, since I have always been the one to make the final decision, regardless of his wants.

You have read far too much into my words. My point is simple: Though some think Jehovah's Witnesses are somehow "depriving" our children by not celebrating Christmas, that is simply not the case. On the contrary, our children get love, time, attention, direction, correction, and yes, "gifts," all year round, not one day a year.
