Use your powerful noggin & look up Greek #3982 in an on-line Strong' Concordance search (see link below). Check out ALL the references.

The notion is not 'OBEY' in the sense of BLIND OBEDIENCE, but to be PERSUADED by the Elder's godly example & correct use of Scripture.
