I think if you have to be dogmatic about Christmas trees and Christmas go all the way. Take all those symbols which in the past
represented in some kinda way idolatry, or part of their worship, and divest your life of ALL remnants of "THE EVIL".
Are you saying if it was evil then,its evil now?
If thats what you are saying then,I dont feel that there is a "BIG DIFFERENCE".
Wedding rings etc. may not specifically represent the Goddess Artemis but were part of idolatrous ritualistic worship ceremonies. And aren't all idols lumped together as far as Jehovah is concerned? And doesn't all idol worship recieve the same punishment-death?
Today men have no problem wearing a tie. Men feel
it completes a manly wardrobe at times.
The ties were worn by Roman soldiers as sweat bands while they beat,maimed,murdered innocent people. Maybe it was worn by those Roman soldiers who beat, tortured and later crucified Jesus. So if you wanted to keep all things associated with this evil far from your psyche why would you wear a tie? Exactly. Does wearing a tie bring on the feelings of domination and a lust for blood? Maybe you shouldn't answer that. :)
Having and decorating a Christmas tree doesn't mean I'm going to worship it or bow down to it. I feel I've made an adult and conscious decision in which I will not be condemned by God. Who has given me liberty thru grace.
Some people think that by attempting to keep the law will enable and give right of way to examine hearts. Not so. Only God has the right to examine hearts.
The bible DOES say to keep the law one must keep ALL the law. And when you say, "I will keep the law", you in effect tell God; "I will be God. With all my filth and sin and unrighteous rags, I think I can do the job. I have insight into the hearts of men."
I'll recieve grace over law anytime. And this doesn't mean I would particiate in some fertility ritual in the boonies in the middle of the night. I hope you understand what I am saying.
