I am glad to see you have reversed the abuse of your childhood, though I'm so sorry to hear what you went through. There are JW's who do buy presents for their kids all year long, but there are plenty of others who do not -- but say they do when confronted over the Christmas issue.
To me this argument is like JW's calling themselves the 'happiest people on earth.' Although there are plenty of happy JW's, there are plenty of miserable ones too. But that doesn't stop themselves from calling themselves happy, since that's what they are taught to say.
