Hi Searching,
The best gift he could give his son he refuses to give because of the enormous life changes it would effect. This guy knows the faults and the past history of the organization. He knows it has lied and continues to lie. Still, it is what he has and due to his insecurity and fear he won't confront it and deal with it openly. Sadly his son doesn't know and will believe the posturing and bombast he spews forth regarding the truth. I hope the son will read his dad's old WT books and look over his shoulder as he reads and posts here on H20 and at wit.net and see things as they are. I wish the father and the boy the best, but he is putting him at a severe disadvantage and setting him up to believe the lie. I used to wonder how the people could roll their babies down into the arms of the idols. I guess it was easier than facing the truth about those peices of rock or wood. Same here, standing up and saying, "I have been wrong, this is a pack of liars proclaiming themselves prophets, I will not just swallow it. I know the real truth. I see the lies. I won't go on as though I don't and leave my family in this quagmire of deception." would just be too hard. Parents owe it to their children to follow the advice given in the Feb. 22 Awake when they quoted Jefferson, "Reason and free inquiry are the only effectual agents against error.....They are the natural enemies of error." I hope the boy finds that article, reads that quote and then puts it into practice. I wish him freedom and truth.
