Serious H2O Email Problem

Posted by Rick [Rick] on November 27, 1999 at 20:59:32 {nwG7wj0NI.OL4VPHgCQsFMFBt36Xyc}:

I finally went to check email and spend some time sorting through it. When I checked yesterday (having telnet into the account and using Pine for Unix), there were over 3,000 messages. I went to download them today using TCP/IP to Windows 95 and got an error that the "temporary" file is locked. I telnetted to our account as I did yesterday to see what happened, opened Pine for Unix, and there was 1 message! The over 3,000 messages are gone! I'm assuming they are trapped in the temporary file due to some error, and will email Cyberpass to see if I can get these restored.

If they cannot restore them for any reason, then all emails to H2O sent between 11/15/99 (my last email download) and today have been lost. :-(

Ordinarily, when you send email a copy of your message is saved in your "Sent" folder as a backup (in case this very error occurs on the receiving end). Please check your "Sent" folder to see if you emailed H2O any messages between 11/15/99 and today. If so, please resend these messages.

I apologize for the inconvenience, having no idea what has happened or if they can recover the over 3,000 messages.
