If we are to avoid all things pagan or of pagan origen, we would have to avoid most alphabets of the modern world, including the Roman, Hebrew and Greek alphabets. Jehovah's Witnesses and other Christians would be prevented even reading the Bible.
What is important is that which occurs inside the person celebrating, what that person is celebrating, why they are celebrating, what spiritual or other significance it has (i.e. sharing time with loved ones) and not the date, the decorations or things of secondary, little or no importance. If these things are pleasing and add to the joy of the celebration, where's the harm? Even the Bible provides for different ways of worship and says not to condemn those who worship differently.
If JWs find it adds to their closeness to God by not celebrating certain days that others find significant, so be it. They shouldn't, however, find fault in others for practicing their faith in a manner different than theirs.
