Alan, I am sorry for you that you didn't carefully read what the other person posted. That person never mentioned shopping or traveling, but mentioned family time and relaxing and enjoying one another.
Do you have a problem with those things too?
My husband and I don't do the holidays up big. But we enjoy spending the days off together. On Thanksgiving we have vegetarian lasagna each year. That has become our tradition and we enjoy that a lot. On Xmas day, we sit and read, looking up periodically and smile at each other. I don't decorate up big, but put little decorations of our choice up. This year I'll probably have an evergreen arrangement on the wall and a little nativity scene. Our choice to do or not to do.
Life isn't as confined as the WTS would have you believe.
