Actually, I was going to bring out something similar to this, because a few years after I was baptized, some (cough---and not from the Salems) er, shall we say "New Light" (as opposed to "light UP") the members who were smokers had been given a "Grace Period" of six months in which to quit puffing, or face penalties posed by the Elders.
As you said, "Jehovah" had then made up his mind that all who used tobacco were now evil and had to quit or be tossed out on their "butt"! (Sorry, I couldn't resist! It just came to me as I was typing this!)
