It sounds like I wrote this.
A lady came to my door a couple of days ago and I told her the same, that I was born and raised a witness I was also quick to point out that I had never been baptized.(I think she would have left in a hurry if I did not point that out)
"She said "How do you think you would know better then the society? For one thing you smoke and so God isnt even with you." I told her "Yes I know he is. He has helped me so much in my life." and she said "No he wouldnt do that. Not with you smoking." I think she is wrong."
Indeed I think she is wrong too because if smoking was such a sin then why are witnesses allowed to drink alcohol?
Knowing that alcohol is not all that good for you aswell as the fact that alcohol is when someone gets addicted to it by far more dangerous than many other drugs including tobacco.
Alcohol can kill you a lot faster than tobacco if and when you are addicted and make no misstake it will also affect your social life in ways you can not attribute to tobacco.
I believe that Jesus said he came for all of us not just a select few and that if you accept him as your saviour he would be with you until the end.
Now that I believe is regardless of wether you smoke or drink or any other habits you might have.
If you think god is walking with you then that is what counts.
