I took it off, as I have done with numerous other features in the past after a time for various reasons. As you probably know, there is no shorage of articles about Ray on the Internet on other exJW sites.
Ray's articles on Beacon resulted in quite a bit of e-mail in which people believed he could be contacted at Beacon, or that he had e-mail. It seemed that some people were coming to associate Ray Franz and Commentary Press with Beacon itself, which quite naturally set some parameters on the kind of material I might want to publish from my own perspective. Also, Ray and I live on opposite sides of the country. While the e-mails and good wishes of so many were appreciated, there was no efficient way to convey them to him or for him to respond to them.
It is my understanding that a web page may be forthcoming for Commentary Press by a friend closer to home, where it will better be able to be maintained by Commentary Press for their interests.
The high visibility of the Franz articles may have discouraged Jehovah's Witnesses who surfed in from reading the other articles on Beacon. At least there has been a marked increase of e-mail to Beacon from visitors having read the doctrinal articles and having questions about WT doctrine--especially the Shunning article--since the change.
There is no quarrel or severance of friendship between Ray and me. I am going to be focusing heavily on two other websites in the immediate future which is and will consume most of my Internet time from now on. For all practical purposes, it seems to me like an excellent idea for Commentary Press to have its own dedicated Web presence, closer to home.
Hope this settles your questions.
Blessings,
Ros
