Before the bible was written and widely available, Jehovah inspired men and women to speak for him. He communicated to them through angelic messengers, visions, dreams, etc. The purpose of prophecy was to reveal his will, laws, standards, or judgments - never to merely satisfy human curiousity! Today we have the entire inspired word of God and do not need "divine intervention" so to speak. The Watchtower society has reiterated countless times that they are not "prophets" as in the sense of those described in Deut. 18. They are curious, imperfect, impestuous, anxious to unlock prophecy (history told in advance) But they are just like you and me. Imperfect, curious, overeager perhaps, (but NOT engaging in revealing new prophecy - it's already all been done) and have made multitudinous mistakes to which they admit. Please know, it is all about the MESSAGE, not the messengers!!!!! Please discuss this with a real live witness in real life, and know that from what I've scanned of the followups, well, uh, cyberspace is definitely NOT the place to get accurate information about the bible! it's scary out here! I will look for a reply post from you, but unfortunately this forum seems to be a place where apologists for any subject other than the Sovereignty of Jehovah vent their frustrations and puff out their feathers.
