Camryn: The response you received is very typical. It reminds me when an Elder will say while giving private counsel, 'the conscience of the congregation is thus-and-so.' When I follow up this 'conscience' as I did in a few cases, it was that the very Elder giving the counsel who conscience was disturbed. He just shuttled the blame elsewhere so he did not appear to be imposing his personal views on me. One case was where I allowed one of my four children to attend home study. The Elder tried to get her back in public school. He was eventually forced to cease his pursuit. Thanks for your feedback.
