I was "given an offer I couldn't refuse" to step down as an elder. I made the stupid mistake of letting one elder know that I didn't have complete control of masturbation. The CO intervened and gave the tried and true "cure": Get married. Well, couldn't do that as I knew I was gay and didn't want to mess up some sweet sisters heart, mind, and emotions. A short while later, I had to "step down", even though I was doing everything by the book, i.e., field service, meeting attendance, TM School overseer, watching over our Book Study group and others in the Congregation, etc., etc., etc.
So glad I have nothing to do with them anymore. It really is a lot more enjoyable being able to think and act on one's own without some man-made Organization saying what's right or wrong in the minutia that they get involved with.
