Dear Brothers,
This is to inform you of my resignation as an elder.
Due to additional responsibilities with the family, and some personal matters of conscience, I do not feel that I can serve the congregation properly as an elder at this time.
My resignation is no way intended to suggest that I want to leave the congregation. I just do not feel that I can continue in the capacity of an elder."
Note: The above resignation was rejected. Instead I was deleted on the grounds of "Disloyalty to the Society" with no explanation other than, "That's what the Circuit Overseer told us to do."
At the time I still believed that the Society was Jehovah's organization and so felt that I had been charged with being disloyal to Jehovah God himself! That was scary at the time.
