The reasons you gave of 'disloyalty' as a basis for being deleted must have had something to do with what was in your resignation letter or something you said to the body of elders upon presenting your letter. If it happened just as you said, with a simple letter of resignation, in 1978, then you must have been in a very strict or strange cong.
