Dear Antique and Undecided,
Interestingly enough I did't find answers in the Bible. Shock! Shock! After seven years of college majoring in the physical sciences and zoology, it became apparent that when one is faced with the notion of a "creator" there are all kinds of ways of accepting or rejecting. As a formally trained "scientist" its is imparative to me to be open to "new evidence" and always seeking to resolve discordanant evidence. When science takes in new information, it is always, or should be, open to re-examining its previous understandings. So quantum physics turned the whole world on its head. Continental Drift did the same, and now these once rejected ideas have been incorporated into a new paradigm. How volcanos and earthquakes are generated is no longer a mystery.
The same is true of religion. When one suddenly finds out that what was closely held as "truth" is clearly debunked, and what one was told about other religions is also found to be baseless, one must, if they are intellectually honest, look deeper and weigh dispassionately what the new evidence means.
I think you both are capable of and interested in such a course of action. I wish you the best in your endeavors.
