I haven't seen the article, but I'm not surprised it finally appeared. Apostates and evangelicals often point to Russell's pyramidism as a glaring weakness in the Watchtower's claim to divine direction. Several WT articles in the past few years have been written in seeming response to claims from opposers.
This particular strategic maneuver is a good one on the WTS' part. The Bible itself is full of excuses for mistakes, errors, bad judgment, and so forth on the parts of God's servants and spokesmen. Why should the WTS act or present itself as any different, since the religion of the Bible has certainly survived well enough?
