I asked my brother (who quit the Witnesses well before me, on his own) today if our Grandmother would be having The Family over for Thanksgiving dinner. She and all of us JWs then used to gather that particular Thursday of the year. He couldn't remember us doing that (I guess it's been that long). So maybe we won't this year. I think I'll still go over there anyway, for old times' sake (even if no one else remembers).
Thanksgiving dinner at Grandma's so many years ago was the only time I felt "normal" when hanging out with The Family like "worldly" people do. The JW excuse that they get together with family "whenever we want, not at certain determined dates," is simply B.S.
