>My only problem with the whole redemption scenario is Judas. Seems that he and not Jesus was the key element, for which it would follow that humanity (well, xtians anyway) ought to be eternally grateful for Judas' faithfully "giving up his soul in behalf of the many."
If it wasn't Judas, someone else would have betrayed Jesus as it was prophesied. Jesus went to his death willingly to die a martyr. Look at how astounded the others were in the narrative when he returned in the transformed body (spiritual).
It's up to each of us, how much we want to believe is accurate about the accounts.
I think the Essenes somehow hold the key. They believed in totality it seems, they were waiting for the Apocalypse to come in their lifetimes.
"The War of the Children of Light" is a literal battle plan fought against the Roman Legions and the Essenes were anhilated. They thought that legions of angels would help in the battle. Of course, they died with bravery and courage against an oppressor. Is that not a good way to die?
